Turning up heat on energy firms
WHEN it comes to energy in this country the only way is up – resulting in Ireland having the second-highest electricity prices in the EU.
It is not surprising so many people are suffering fuel poverty resulting in families being unable to properly heat their homes.
The opening up of the market was supposed to increase competition which in turn would drive down prices.
There must be more help in the form of fuel allowances from the State and consumers should also shop around and switch to energy companies which provide the best deal.
