Schools need to be ‘holistic’ on eco issues

- BY MICHELLE DEVANE

Mary Robinson A FORMER President has said a “holistic” approach is needed to combat climate change in the nation’s schools.

Mary Robinson made the comments at Trinity College in Dublin.

The UN Sustainable Development Goals form the focus of this year’s Green Week, which runs until February 22.

Mrs Robinson said: “The important point is the interconnection between the 17 sustainable development goals, that’s their strength.

“They don’t portray gender equality as somehow separate from climate action or ocean pollution, or ocean pollution separate from consumption and production.” Alcohol seized in Dublin

REVENUE officers at Dublin Port have seized almost €90,000 worth of booze and tobacco.

Around 100,000 cigarettes and 2,950 litres of alcohol were nabbed in the sting.

Officers made the discovery on Friday when they stopped and searched a foreign-registered bus and van after they arrived on a ferry from Holyhead.

The details were only made public yesterday.

The products were hidden within numerous packages being transported in the two vehicles. Tobacco products
