Hendo: We can handle the pressure

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

JORDAN HENDERSON has vowed that Liverpool will not let their Champions League campaign wreck their Premier League bid.

Last season the Reds dropped 10 points in games immediately following Champions League ties from the last-16 stage to the final in Kiev. But skipper Henderson (left), preparing for tonight’s Anfield clash

with Bayern Munich, has promised Kop fans there will be no repeat this term.

“We have a squad good enough to cope with the games when they are coming thick and fast,” he said.

“It is down to us to keep performing, no matter what competition it is. We will give everything and be mentally ready for the next few months.”

Henderson hinted that the training camp last week in Marbella focused heavily on the team’s ability to stay focused following emotional European nights.

The run to the Champions League final clearly affected Liverpool’s League form last term and, asked if that was discussed in Marbella, Henderson replied with a smile: “It might have been!”

And he added: “It is why Marbella was such an important week for us to get ready. It is about focusing on the next game. We are in a good place at the minute.”

Henderson said he is 100 per cent ready to play at centre-back if needed against Bayern Munich tonight with Virgil van Dijk suspended.
