Actor Liam’s shock Game Of Thrones revelation
LIAM Cunningham has admitted there were times he had to question his morals while shooting “disgusting” Game Of Thrones scenes.
The Dubliner, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth in the HBO fantasy series, enjoyed some sweet scenes opposite his co-star Kerry Ingram, who stars as Princess Shireen Baratheon.
Her character created one of the biggest shockwaves in the series when she was burned alive by her own parents, Stannis and Selyse Baratheon.
But Liam deemed the most horrific storylines as the ones that gave the show its iconic edge.
The 57-year-old told the Irish Mirror: “There was one scene I did that I remember and I think it was Alex Graves, one of the directors, who came up to me when she [Shireen] was teaching me to read.
“And Alex came up smiling and I asked, ‘What are you smiling at?’ He said, ‘This is the weirdest show I’ve ever done in my life’.
“He said, ‘I’ve directed one of the most disgusting things ever in my career and this afternoon I am doing probably the sweetest scene I’ve ever done in my entire career, all in the same day’.”
Despite the controversy, Liam added it was important to maintain the level of drama and surprise for the sake of the fanbase.
He said: “There has just been so much like that but it is kind of what makes the story so interesting.
“It flips from really confrontational stuff, where you kind of question your own morals.

edgy stuff in this that kind of got us into some trouble and as it should.
“If you are pushing the edge of drama and you are not going to be condescending to people and patronising to your audience, then you have to treat them like adults.”
Keeping tight-lipped about what is to come from his character this season, he hinted season eight will be just as “big and bad” as some of the most horrific storylines in the first seven series.
Liam added: “Somebody said, ‘Could you describe in one word what the last season is like’, and that’s ‘epic’.
“When HBO get behind something they really get behind it and this is their big baby.
“The last season of this they just basically said, ‘What do you want?’ and the guys are responsible enough they allowed it to be huge.
“Just look at the statistics. From season one to six we were six months shooting 10 episodes and this season we were a year shooting six.
“That takes a huge amount of money and a huge amount of logistics and you will see it on the screen. It is bigger and badder and bolder than all the other ones.”
