IT’S AN INSULT15 Angry father slams day release for beast who murdered his daughter

We are devastated. We want to take action, we want to mobilise MICHEAL CUNNINGHAM

THE heartbroken dad of a young woman stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend has slammed the decision to grant him day release.

Micheal Cunningham yesterday described it as an “insult” to the memory of Ciara Campbell, who was knifed 28 times in front of her fouryear-old son Jamie.

Evil Gordon Molloy then tried to have sex with the lifeless body of the 22-year-old and wrote a message on the living room door in her blood.

Mr Cunningham said: “We’re just traumatised over a decision that was made during the week to release Gordon Molloy.

“He murdered our Ciara on the 12th of November 2007.

“We’re just absolutely heartbroken. We miss our beautiful daughter so much.

“I’m speaking to you on behalf of my very strong wife [Paidi], my brilliant grandson, our extended families and all of Ciara’s friends.

“We grieve and we have pain on a daily basis.

“She was taken and robbed from us by an evil and convicted killer, Gordon Molloy from Ballickmoyler, Co Laois.”

Ciara’s mum Paidi Campbell wrote to the parole board in March for a second time begging them not to let RTE RADIO YESTERDAY Gordon Molloy

the 34-year-old murderer and stalker out early because she fears he will attack again. Heartless Molloy received a life sentence in July 2009 after he brutally slayed the mother of one at her home in Ardmore Gardens, Carlow.

After his sickening attempts to interfere with her remains he moved her to a bathtub full of water upstairs where she was found by gardai.

The doting mum’s last words to her son Jamie were to run and he hid for up to five hours until emergency services removed him from his home.

Mr Cunningham told Joe Duffy on RTE’S Liveline: “The news we received from the Irish Prison Service that Gordon Molloy was to have a family day out in June, it just sickens us and hurts us so much.

“We’re devastated.

“This is not the first time this has happened.

“Gordon Molloy has not even served 10 years of a convicted murder sentence.

“He received a life sentence. Last July, I think it was the 4th of July on a Parents Micheal and Patricia Friday evening we got word from the IPS that Molloy was to be released that Sunday.

“There wasn’t time to mobilise, to take action.

“This time we want to take action, we want to mobilise.

“We can’t believe it. This is an insult to Ciara’s memory.”
