SPICE Girls fans brought some serious girl power to Croke Park as 75,000 diehard supporters descended on Dublin.

The sold-out gig was the iconic girl band’s first show on Irish soil in 21 years and their first live concert since the 2012 Olympics in London.

Among those at the gig were Ray Colclough, his wife Liz and their two daughters Annamai, seven, and five-year-old Tily.

Dad Ray said the excitement in the Waterford family home has been electric all week ahead of the big night.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, he added: “It’s the girls’ first concert and they sang and danced the whole way through.

“They loved the movie too and were disappointed they didn’t see the Spice World double decker bus.

“Annamai’s favourite Spice Girl is Scary and Tilly loves Baby Spice.

“The girls love the individuality of each of the Spice Girls and also the fact that they are all great friends. They are brilliant role models for young people to have.

“They’ve been to festivals but not a concert like Croker and are blown away by the crowds and everyone singing.” Meanwhile, superfan Elaine Doyle, from Clondalkin, Dublin, said she has been waiting over 20 years to see the group take to the stage again. She added: “I’m so excited to see the girls perform tonight. I was a massive fan back in the day and still am. “Sporty Spice was my favourite as I played a lot of football at the time and loved her style.

“I even went out and bought loads of the tracksuits she used to wear.

“I joined a gymnastics class to try and master the backflip but I was rubbish and only ever managed a front roll.

“They are fun and never fail to put on a good show. It was certainly a night full of nostalgia for my friends and I.”
