Raising ceiling & engineering bill add extra €200k

Dail printer is way over budget

THE Dail printer could now cost €1.8million – €200,000 more than officials claimed last month.

A further report from Clerk Peter Finnegan said a room needs to be changed to accomodate the machine.

The findings, seen by RTE, shows the additional expenditures to those in a report submitted to the committee.

The cost of the printing press itself remains at €808,000 and rises to €1.36million when associated equipment such as a pile turner and guillotines, as well as VAT, are taken into account.

But raising the ceiling to accommodate the printer will cost €267,000, not €229,000.

FEES

This is because electrical costs are €126,000 and not the €94,000 previously outlined, while extra engineering fees of €11,408 have also been added.

When VAT is included, the total building costs associated hit €314,000.

Mr Finnegan ‘s report compares the cost of the Komori printer, purchased in 2019 which amounts to €994,000 including VAT, to a Heidelberg Printer purchased in 2004 which cost €1.24million including VAT.

He found a note raising concern about the ceiling height was “missed by the [Oireachtas] evaluation team”.

In April last year, manufacturer Komori stated: “The head room for the press foot boards to the ceiling is limited.”

Notes from a meeting between Komori and Oireachtas staff in May raising concern over the press size are missing.

Mr Finnegan said: “The evidence available to me is the issue of head-height was discussed... and those present were satisfied sufficient was available, particularly since 90% of the operational tasks could be undertaken from the lower platform.” looked sensational as she slipped into a low-cut red mini dress.

AN investigation has been launched after a cash-intransit robbery.

A guard was allegedly threatened by a man at Trim Retail Park, Navan Gate, Co Meath, on Monday morning.

The suspect then stole the cash box, which contained an undisclosed sum and fled the scene.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call gardai in Trim on 046 9481540.
