HUGE FIGHTS ON THE CARDS
Notorious targets Pacman and Mayweather
CONOR Mcgregor is hoping to get his fight career back on track with a win over Donald Cerrone in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
Victory will setup a very exciting and entertaining 2020 for the Dubliner with numerous potential fights in both MMA and boxing strong possibilities.
Mcgregor has this week expressed his desire to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for a second time, Tony Ferguson and Jorge Masvidal in the UFC, while also declaring his interest in a boxing rematch with Floyd Mayweather and a bout with Manny Pacquiao.
But the former two-weight world champion has admitted that even he doesn’t know which of those fights will be next for him.
When asked who he would like to face after Cerrone, Mcgregor said: “It’s hard to say. Consistency is why I’m here and I’m going to keep going so whatever pops up.
“Which of the three in a mixed martial arts bout would I like first? Whichever one comes up first. I’ll be ready.”
But Mcgregor is also keen on being involved in the first fight event at the new 65,000 seater Allegiant Stadium, which is due to open in Las Vegas in August, and believes a bout there could come against Manny Pacquiao.
Mcgregor said: “The Manny fight is there whenever. I would be honoured to be part of that event, I would love to be the first combatant to fight in that arena.
“What a fight that would be against Manny, a small powerful southpaw. I would have to figure out the weight but it’s something that interests me no doubt.
“I’m going right to the top; I thought I did well against
Floyd, I did do well, I won rounds, hit him more times than Manny hit him.
“I think with small adjustments in the prep and an understanding of his style, I would beat him.
“I would love the rematch with Floyd, it could happen this year.”
One man who put his name in the hat to be next in line for
Mcgregor is Jorge
Masvidal, who believes a fight between him and ‘Mystic Mac’ would be “one of the biggest in history.”
Speaking at the UFC’S media day ahead of the bout, Masvidal said: “If me and Conor go in the Octagon, what happens? It’s one of the biggest fights in history just by math proven what Conor’s been doing.
“The last couple of fights I’ve had – the engagement, the
PPVS, I broke record with ESPN.
Obviously it’s a formula for success.”
He added: “I don’t know what his
[Mcgregor] plans are at the end of the day.
Obviously I want paychecks. I’ve been fighting 16 years, it’s going to 17,” he added.
