Appeal to find missing Lisa after 15 years

POLICE have appealed for help to “relieve the pain and anguish” felt by Lisa Dorrian’s family on the 15th anniversary of her disappearance.
The 25-year-old was last seen at a party in Ballyhalbert Caravan Park in Bangor, Co Down, in 2005.
PSNI Det Supt Jason Murphy said: “Every anniversary for the Dorrian family is incredibly difficult, but with each year that passes, their determination to find Lisa increases.
“It is now 15 years since Lisa inexplicably vanished and our thoughts are with her family and friends.”
Anyone with information that could help detectives is being asked to call 101.
POLICE seized 30 weapons outside a funeral yesterday after scuffles broke out during a Requiem Mass.
Three males aged 17, 22 and 32 were arrested after initial reports claimed shots had been fired in the chapel, however, the PSNI said there was no evidence to support the claims.
A large police presence was in place from early morning before the funeral at St Mary’s Church in Strabane, Co Tyrone.
It included TSG personnel, the PSNI’S dog unit and several Land Rovers.
Video footage of the Mass was being live streamed as a disturbance erupted inside the church and a loud bang, believed to be a door closing, was heard. The service ended abruptly as mourners left their seats and a confrontation is understood to have taken place while others fled the building.
The PSNI had been alerted tensions between a number individuals who were expected attend yesterday.
A police source: “We were aware there were a number of issues that could come to the fore ahead of this funeral, during it or afterwards and officers were in place as a planned deterrent and to deal with any problems that might arise.
“In the end, they were required and a number of arrests did take place with several dangerous weapons removed to the safety of police custody.”

■ One machete
■ Two bill hooks

■ Three bottles of ammonia
Initially two males aged 32 and 17, were arrested after the disturbance at a funeral in Strabane and later a 22-year-old man was held.
PSNI District Commander Chief Superintendent Emma Bond said: “A significant proactive policing operation was in place in the area to prevent disorder and keep people safe.
“A disturbance did break out within the church however it was quickly addressed. A number of dangerous weapons were seized and we are thankful to have been able to remove these items from the streets.
“We are aware of tensions between individuals who were in attendance and I am appealing to anyone with influence to help bring about a calm resolution to the current issues.”
