LENNY: THE BOYS LOST DISCIPLINE

-

CELTIC manager Neil Lennon felt his side didn’t deserve to lose, as they crashed out of the Europa League at the hands of Copenhagen.

The Hoops went into the match with the cushion of an away goal, but collapsed in the second half to crash out 4-2 on aggregate.

That sees Celtic eliminated, in a season where they won their Europa League group ahead of Lazio, Rennes and CFR Cluj.

Lennon said: “I thought we played well first half, we had good control of the game and we could at least have been in the lead. We’ve given away a poor goal, the first goal, and then they’ve done brilliantly to galvanise themselves and get back in the game.

“And then there’s two minutes between us equalising and them scoring again.

“It’s about game management, experienced players didn’t manage the game as well as you’d expect them to.

“See the game out, 90 minutes and we’ll go into extra-time. I didn’t think we deserved to lose on the night - I’m really interested to see what Mcgregor’s goal was disallowed for.

“It’s just a shame this campaign’s ended because it was very, very promising.”

Jozo Simunovic had a difficult night, and was guilty of a howler for the goal that put the Danes 1-0 up on the night.

Lennon explained: “We said at half-time, ‘Be patient, it’ll come’.

“Sometimes you can’t legislate for individual errors, that happens in the game, so we’re not here to scapegoat anyone.

“That wasn’t the defining moment of the game, the defining moment of the tie really was their second goal, which we should have managed a lot better.”

Our game management was poor and after the goal has killed us, it is a shame
