Pards fans are Dutch frustrated

- BY TONY BANKS

ALAN PARDEW’S unhappy spell in charge of ADO Den Haag hit a new low when angry fans invaded a training session to complain about his tactics.

Pardew won his first game in charge of the Dutch side when they beat RKC Waalwijk last month.

But they have not won in five games since then, which has seen them slip to 17th place in the Eredivisie – one place off the bottom.

Fans with flipboards and tactics sheets barged into a training session being run by Pardew and assistant Chris Powell on Wednesday to point out where they have been going wrong.

Around a dozen of them were pictured on social media talking to the players, with Pardew and Powell looking on.

The incident passed off peacefully, with Pardew and his players listening to what the fans had to say.

Den Haag chief executive

Mo Hamdi insisted: “ADO Den Haag has one of the most loyal groups of fans in the Netherlands. They are so passionate and want to support the team.

“The club and supporters are supporting Alan Pardew and the team.”

Den Haag are four points adrift of safety in Eredivisie, with 10 games remaining.

The job in The Hague is Pardew’s first since leaving West Brom in April 2018, after his side picked up only eight points from 18 games.

Pardew recently hit back at criticism about his reign, saying: “As a coach, you are often criticised for the way you let your team play, but it is not often that I have been dismissed as a ‘tactical nonsense’.

“I don’t take it personally. I was brought in to protect the team from relegation – and I am trying to do that.”
