“My own childhood home is flooded and we’re going to try again [to repair it] as it would be heartbreak­ing not to do our damnedest out of respect to our deceased parents.

“We hadn’t recovered from 2016, it was such a traumatic experience, certainly the memories are traumatic.

“Physically and mentally this time it’s more difficult as we know the damage that’s coming if the water continues to rise.

“The residents want a meeting with Clare County Council to ask them for the timelines for the embankment.”
