MOW EYES A WORKING CLASS BEN

- BY JOHN RICHARDSON

BEN BRERETON has been handed a reality check by Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray.

Little has been seen of the striker (above, right) since his £7million move from Nottingham Forest in January 2019, hailed as the wonderkid who could help lead Rovers back to the top flight.

He started this game as a sub again, but the 20-year-old showed second-half flashes of why Mowbray believes he will still come good.

Mowbray said: “With the ball at his feet, Ben’s an extraordinary talent.

“He’s a wonderful player who can dribble with both feet and take people out of the game.

“But he’s still a boy. I said to him after the game that this is a working-class town.

“These are people who pay hard-earned money to watch him play and they expect you to fight for every ball. He has to learn that.”

Sam Gallagher fired Blackburn ahead only for Swansea to hit back through Rhian Brewster just before half-time and an early second-half penalty from Andre Ayew.

And Swans keeper Freddie Woodman saved a spot-kick from Danny Graham, before Bradley Johnson got a stoppagetime leveller for Rovers.

Swans chief Steve Cooper said: “It was gut wrenching, but we will get over it as we have to.

“I am seeing a group of players who are giving their best and more.” BLACKBURN: Walton 6, Bennett 6, Nyambe 7, Adarabioyo 6, Bell 6, Travis 6 (Johnson 71), Rothwell 6 (Brereton 55, 6), Downing 6, Samuel 6 (Graham 55, 7), Gallagher 6, Armstrong 6.
