Hunt for €1m lotto winner
A WOMAN who turned 100 yesterday has told how she’s keeping her spirits up in lockdown.
Incredible granny Margaret Lynch had a heartwarming chat with Joe Duffy from her house in Walkinstown, Dublin.
She said: “Last week I put down a few plants and planted a few spuds in my garden.
“I’m hoping they’ll be up about July. I did hear someone saying potatoes could be scarce later this year so I got ahead of them and put in a few seed potatoes.
“I’ve a very good family, I’ve had food left on the porch every day, food cooked and put in freezer containers. And I’ve had a lovely meal delivered from my local day centre where I’m still a volunteer.”
Margaret, who spends two days a week at the facility, is the longestserving volunteer in the country with an impressive 54 years with the Sisters of Charity. She added: “I serve out dinners and help clear tables, I’ve plenty of friends there.”
Many listeners called in to wish Margaret a great anniversay.
Michael, who lives next-door, said: “Joe, this woman would astound you. Happy birthday Margaret, I hope you’re keeping well. We’re neighbours about 61 years now.”
And Mary Kennedy added: “A very happy 100th birthday to you.”
THE €1million winning ticket from Wednesday’s Lotto Plus 1 draw was sold in North Dublin.
National Lottery bosses revealed it was bought at the Spar store on the New Cabra Road in Cabra.
Co-owner Mark Magennis said: “We’re delighted with the news.
“So much of our business comes from local people so it’s exciting to think it could be one of them. Fingers crossed it is.”
