Harry & Meg take us all for Covidiots

-

SO after all their pleas for privacy, Harry and Meghan have rocked up in the paparazzi capital of the world.

The now ex-hrhs have left the sanctuary of their €12.5million oceanfront mansion on Vancouver Island to move south across the border to LA.

According to reports, the couple took a private flight before all nonessential travel between Canada and America was banned.

It was later claimed they made the move to La La Land to avoid paying tax in two countries.

Harry and Meghan were said to have been told getting work visas in Canada would be difficult and because the Duchess of Sussex remains a US citizen she could not escape paying her dues in the States.

It would mean she was taxed on her global income and would end up paying on both sides of the border.

Social media reacted to their arrival in LA with annoyance as thousands were irked once again by their “practice what we preach, not what we do” mantra.

Despite using their soon-to-bedefunct Sussexroyal Instagram account to tell us how to stop the spread of Covid-19, they travelled more than 1,100 miles to their new home. So bad was the barrage of criticism they disabled the comments on their social media page.

For want of a better word, their move to the States felt shifty because it was, well, shifty.

Like so much of what the Sussexes have done – from blindsiding the royal family about stepping down to claiming they would “balance” their time between the UK and America – much of what they have said has proven to be disingenuous.

The pair would have gained far more respect if, from day one, they had spoken with openness of their true intentions of wanting out to pursue all Hollywood could offer.

Only in Tinsel Town can they drop their public duties while holding on to the status and perks they feel they deserve.

But while the smile on Meghan’s face may be wider than a Cheshire Cat’s, Donald Trump has stepped in to spoil the tea party.

Now that the couple live under his domain, he has wasted no time in levelling the score with the Duchess.

Trump, like an elephant, doesn’t forget – least of all personal attacks.

Seared into his brain would be the instance in 2016 when Meghan called him “misogynistic” and “divisive” on Larry Wilmore’s short-lived US talk show. The self-proclaimed feminist also said she would abandon her

native America and stay in Canada if he were elected President because she was worried about “the kind of world he’s painting”.

When Trump heard this, he replied: “What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”

So at the first opportunity, the President sought to exact his revenge.

On Sunday, he wrote on Twitter: “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen and the United Kingdom.

“It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada.

“Now they have left Canada for the US, however the US will not pay for their security protection.

“They must pay.”

Harry and Meghan hit back, claiming they didn’t expect the US to pay and that “privately-funded security arrangements have been made”.

But, unsurprisingly, they omitted the fact that the UK taxpayer was still helping to cover the estimated €9million bill.

Now, more than ever, as brave doctors and nurses put their lives on the line battling to save coronavirus carriers, Britain, like every other country, needs every single cent it can muster.

Instead, as they bask in the Californian sun planning their multi-million dollar paydays, Harry and Meghan continue to take us all for Covidiots.
