Ireland to bask in warm weather

- BY SAM ROBERTS news@irishmirror.ie

IRELAND is set to enjoy a spell of warm and sunny weather this week as temperatures soar to highs of 20C.

After a showery day in some parts of the country yesterday, a big change is on the way with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures, particularly towards the end of the week.

However, there will be some showers early today as a band of rain moves across the country.

And when the hot weather arrives, make sure you don’t go any further than your garden to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: “A fresher day on Monday with sunny spells and scattered showers in all areas. The showers – heaviest in the north – will be less frequent later in the day, becoming largely dry by evening. Winds moderate west to south-west.

“Maximum temperatures 10C to 13C, highest in the east.

“Dry on Tuesday with a mix of cloud and good sunny spells.

“The best of the sunshine in the east.

“Cloud thickening in the north-west later. Highs of 11C to 14C in moderate southerly winds.

“Dry with plenty of sunshine on Wednesday. Some cloud at times too, especially in the north during the morning.

“Feeling mild in light southerly winds. Highs of 13C to 16C. Dry on Wednesday night.”

And the best of the warm weather is expected to arrive on Thursday and Friday, although Met Eireann warned of occasional outbreaks of rain.

A forecaster added: “Dry and mostly sunny. Feeling warm in the sunshine, with highs of 15C to 19C or 20C, highest in the Midlands and west.

“Mostly dry and sunny on Friday. But cloud may thicken enough in Atlantic coastal counties to bring some patchy light rain.”

AT last, some good news as the weather is going to take a pleasant turn this week.

Some places could even see temperatures reaching 20C.

So get out and enjoy the sun.. within your 2km zone!
