Won’t see Eni more tweets

FOR the way she was treated by

Mark Sampson, England and the FA, Eni Aluko surely had the sympathy of her fellow professionals.

But it will be in short supply after Aluko decided to dip her toe into the economic debate surrounding the coronavirus crisis.

“Furlough is needed but has perpetuated a culture of do-nothing entitlement,” tweeted Aluko (right), sporting director of Aston Villa women’s team.

Try telling that to the footballers of Reading, who were the first Women’s Super League club to furlough their playing staff.

They would rather be doing anything other than kicking their heels, unable to do what they love and being worried sick for their future in a section of the game that is the most vulnerable to the crippling financial effects of this pandemic.

As, no doubt, would the thousands of Villa fans who can feed their families thanks only to the furlough scheme.

Aluko has now decided to make her social media accounts private. Just as well.

BEST case scenario on the vaccine front seems to be February of next year. Just in time for everyone to pile down to the Cheltenham Festival, then.

IN a way, it was a shame Lewis Hamilton did not step into the seat vacated by Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari.

Not only would it have been great to see him drive towards the latter, golden stages of his glittering career in such an iconic car, it would have been fascinating to see how he would have fared against a teammate in Charles Leclerc who has all the attributes to be an heir apparent to Hamilton.
