JEFF Lynne’s ELO have called off their 3 Arena gig planned for later this year due to the coronavirus.

The rock icon had been due to take to the stage in Dublin in October, however, he has been forced to cancel.

In a message to fans, Lynne said: “It’s with deep regret and sadness that I have to cancel my upcoming October tour, but due to the ongoing and unprecedented situation the live shows cannot go ahead as planned.

“The safety of everyone including my crew, the people who work in support of the shows and of course you, the fans, must come first. Keep well & stay safe.”

WORLD No1 golf ace Rory Mcilroy won’t be teeing it up with Donald Trump again any time soon.

The four-time major champion received a furious backlash from some quarters after he played a round with the US President in Florida three years ago.

Asked if he would ever play with Trump again, Mcilroy said: “I haven’t done it since, so there’s one answer to the question.” He took aim at the

American leader over his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic which has claimed more than 87,000 lives in the US to date.

And Mcilroy described the furore over his game with Trump as “guilt by association”.

He told the Mckellar Golf Podcast: “That doesn’t mean I agree with everything, or in fact anything, that he says.

“We’re in the midst of something that’s pretty serious right now and the fact he’s trying to politicise it and make it a campaign rally and say we’re administering the most tests in the world like it is a contest – there’s something that just is terrible.

“It’s not the way a leader should act. There’s a sort of diplomacy that you need to have, and I don’t think he’s showing that, especially in these times.”

However, the 31-year-old revealed that playing a round with the controversial President made for an enjoyable day out.

He said: “He’s very charismatic, he was nice to everyone. It didn’t matter whether you were me or guys in the cart barn or the pro at the golf club.

“He has something. He obviously has something or he wouldn’t be in the White House, right?

“He has something, whatever it is, an X-factor, charisma, whatever.

“Most people that he came across that day he was cordial to, he was nice and personable.

“That was my only interaction with him, the day I had with him.”
