KENNY: EYES OF SPORTING WORLD ON US

-

opportunity to join a Bundesliga club asked my advice now, I wouldn’t hesitate. I’d tell them: ‘Go ahead – jump in, you’ll love it.’

“There is no real language barrier because most people in Germany speak at least a little English, it’s only an hour’s flight away if you need to come home for any reason, and the best way to remove the mystique around a country is to experience it for yourself.”

As the Bundesliga becomes the first major European league to bust out of lockdown, BT Sport pundit Hargreaves is confident the Germans will put on a flawless show.

He said: “The eyes of the world will be on German football and, in terms of health issues, they will leave no stone unturned.”

THE eyes of the sporting world will be on the return of the Bundesliga today, according to Jonjoe Kenny.

The Schalke defender, on loan from Everton, will play in the Ruhr derby against Borussia Dortmund as the first of Europe’s major leagues starts playing again.

“All eyes are going to be on the Bundesliga to see how everything works,” said England Under-20 World Cup winner Kenny (right).

“At Schalke, we have done everything we can possible to make sure we can go out and play.

Everyone is going to be watching to see how we do it.

Not just football

– but sport all around the world.

“It is credit to

Germany how they have dealt with it.”

All Bundesliga clubs have been kept in a lockdown bubble for a week before today’s big kick-off. Schalke has

43 players and staff in quarantine in a hotel.

Everyone has to wear a face mask and has their own dining seat with a name tag.
