A new life in the bush
HOW TO KEEP YOUR
DOG HAPPY AT HOME
ITV, 8.30pm
This final instalment, narrated by Martin Clunes, is a reminder that dogs were originally bred for a specific reason such as hunting or herding.
So how do you give your four-legged friends a sense of purpose while stuck at home? Well, if you’re home schooling, dogs could take some tips from Bodie the Jack Russell who helps kids with their reading.
Elsewhere, golden retriever Summer rescues kittens, while Gary Bultitude’s
Kyan is more about entertainment value – he howls along to 90s club hits.
EASTENDERS

With the anniversary of Lucy’s death approaching, the Beale family rally round Peter, but it’s all too much for him and Bobby is left gutted.
Ruby is impressed when she sees Martin tackle a thief and offers him a security job at the club.
Elsewhere, Phil doesn’t know whether or not he should let Ben help with the job. Later, Callum catches Frankie shoplifting and when he realises she’s deaf, he thinks she should have a chat with Ben.
NORMAL PEOPLE
RTE One, 10.15pm In tonight’s double bill, Connell bumps into Marianne back in Sligo.
It’s the first time they have seen each other since they broke up.
Connell asks Marianne how she is and tells her he has heard that she’s now seeing Jamie (Fionn O’shea).
Despite the awkwardness between them, Connell offers to attend Marianne’s father’s anniversary mass the next day and they agree to stay friends.
Back in Dublin the two study hard for the Trinity Scholarship exams.
And on a night out after the scholarship results are announced Connell is mugged and turns to Marianne for help.
On arriving at Marianne’s house, he sees that he has interrupted a get together, which includes Jamie.
The party breaks up, as the rest of group go out. Connell and Marianne are left alone.
He reveals that he’s seeing someone new and Marianne bursts into tears. They go on to discuss the misunderstanding of their breakup, but it’s too late now.
In the second instalment, it’s the summer holidays and Connell and Niall arrive at Marianne’s family house in Italy.
WORK ON THE WILD SIDE
Channel 4, 4pm
FOR anyone who struggles to convince their cat to come indoors, spare a thought for the vets in South Africa who need to catch a couple of lions.
In order to relocate the big cats to a new reserve to promote breeding, Cornish vet Emily and her team must catch them, tranquillise them and move them – all in the dead of night.
And there’s a close call when one of them wakes up unexpectedly.
This is the new weekday series that follows vets and volunteers who have jacked in their life in Britain and moved to South Africa to rescue and rehabilitate various iconic species.
The jolly opening credits and “cast” titles give it all the feel of that ITV drama Wild At Heart, which was about a family who moved from Bristol to South Africa to rehabilitate animals.
In fact, conservationist Harriet, who did move from Bristol, is actually living out the drama in real life. In this episode, she is on the hunt for Charlize, one of their collared elephants they haven’t seen for a while.
She says: “People thought we were absolutely mad when we moved here, but now when we talk about giraffes drinking out of the bird bath outside our office window, I think they now realise we’re living the dream.”
Elsewhere, we join Will and Rachael who work at the largest orphan rhino sanctuary in the world.
Vet Rachael explains how she must be ready to help a new rhino any time day or night, while Will tries to get baby Genesis to put on weight.
CHEAP IRISH HOMES
RTE One, 8.30pm
This week the team visit Mary and Dave, who currently live in a rustic thatched cottage in Co Limerick.
They want to move from renting to getting a budget property of their own.
They also have a growing collection of animals and Mary would love to get some Alpacas.
But can Maggie Molloy find a property to suit Mary and Dave that also has enough space for their animal friends? Due to Covid-19 restrictions at the time of filming, Maggie and
Kieran Mccarthy visit the houses and show the results on video link to the house hunters.
Throughout the new six-part series, Maggie has been on a mission to shine a light on the secret side of the Irish property market.
Most of them are under €100,000 and quite a few are a lot cheaper but Maggie is looking for buyers with an open mind who are not afraid of a bit of work.
In return she will reveal the kind of properties people would never have thought were within their reach.
