SHOOTING TERROR 32-yr-old victim in hospital after being blasted in suspected ‘gang feud’ attack

A MAN is recovering in hospital after surviving a suspected “gang feud” gun attack yesterday.

The victim of the shooting in Coolock, North Dublin, has been named locally as Michael Brennan.

The 32-year-old has had previous runins with the law and was jailed for 10 years in 2010 for attempted murder.

Gardai were yesterday called to the scene of a shooting on Cromcastle Drive in Kilmore.

It is believed the shooting is to do with an ongoing feud between gangs from the Kilmore/cromcastle areas and the Priorswood/ Darndale areas of Coolock.

Neighbours told of a silver car seen driving up the street as far as Brennan’s house several times before speeding out of the road over the past few nights. They believe the car was driven by members of a rival gang casing the home. Brennan was spotted at the Northside Shopping Centre at 6am yesterday. A Garda spokesman said:

“Gardai are currently at the scene of a shooting incident that occurred at approximat­ely 2pm today at Cromcastle Drive, Kilmore, Coolock.

“A man in his 30s was injured in the shooting and was removed by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital where his injuries are described as non-life threatenin­g.

“The scene is currently preserved for technical examinatio­n.

“No arrests have been made. Investigat­ions are ongoing.

“Gardai at Santry are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with informatio­n to contact Santry Garda station at 01 6664000, the Garda Confidenti­al Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
