SPELGA JUST WHAT DOCTOR ORDERED
A THREE-TIME winner on Dundalk’s polytrack late last year, the Michael Halford-trained Spelga should be noted in the Thanks To All Our Frontline Workers Handicap in Fairyhouse.
A son of Sir Percy, he opened his account off 49 in early November and followed-up, off a 9lb higher mark, nine days later and appreciated the step-up to a mile and a half completing his hat-trick (off 64) in early December.
Up 23lb for his three wins, Spelga was last seen when finishing fourth to The Mouse Doctor at the same venue a week before Christmas.
Spelga runs off 71, having his first outing on grass since August, and must have solid claims, with Joseph O’brien’s, inset, Tonkinese and Mutadarrib the dangers.
