A SALAD product sold in Ireland has been recalled over fears of a diarrhoeacausing parasite.

Gold River Quality Mixed Salad Leaves are being withdrawn from sale as a precaution due to the possible presence of Cryptosporidium.

All batches and best before dates of the product, which comes from Co Wicklow, are subject to the recall.

The Food Safety Authority said: “Watery diarrhoea is the most common symptom of cryptosporidiosis, which can be particularly serious for young children, older people, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems.”

Gold River was contacted for comment.
