Cork Airport

PASSENGER numbers plummeted by 91% last month at the country’s second biggest airport.

Cork Airport welcomed 2.6 million commuters in 2019 and July is usually the busiest time of the year.

However, passenger numbers are predicted to slump by more than two million by the end of December.

Chief Niall Maccarthy said: “Covid-19 continues to have a massive impact on aviation globally and Cork Airport, no different than other airports, continues to be very severely impacted by the pandemic.

“We have seen our passenger numbers plummet by over one million in the last seven months alone.”
