I’d like to add to your reply to the mother of the 10-year-old girl who doesn’t have any solid friendships (Dear Coleen, July 30). I was in the same situation at primary school until a classmate told me about the Brownie/guide pack, so I joined and made a lot of friends there.
Also, some high schools have a peer support system, where older students are buddied up with the younger ones. I had more friends in high school than I did in primary school, and my grandmother often invited classmates to her home for tea. I think her confidence will grow at secondary school. I wish her the best of luck.
