Fears over Sterling after Bolt isolates awaiting Covid result

OFFICIALS at a German zoo fear a baby albino kangaroo which disappeared from her enclosure was stolen.

Mila, an all-white kangaroo born at Kaiserslautern Zoo, was noticed missing from the pen she shared with her mother.

SOCCER star Raheem Sterling has been caught up in a coronavirus scare after partying with Usain Bolt – who has revealed he is isolating after a Covid test.

The Manchester City striker was pictured at a surprise 34th birthday bash for the sprinting legend last week on the island of Jamaica.

Friday’s party was criticised after videos on social media appeared to show little social distancing.

Last night Bolt urged all his friends to quarantine “just to be safe” – but did not directly confirm or deny reports on the island that his test had been positive.

In a video on Twitter filmed from his bed, he said: “I’m just waking up… like everyone else I checked social media, and saw it was saying I’m confirmed to have Covid-19.”

He explained: “I did a test on Saturday to leave [Jamaica] because I work. I’m trying to be responsible, so I’m going to stay in and stay here for all my friends.”

Stressing he had no symptoms, Bolt – who retired in 2017 but still holds 100m and 200m world records – added: “I’m going to quarantine myself, and wait on the confirmation to see what is the protocol.

“Until then, I’ll talk to all my friends and tell them if they came into contact with me you should, just to be safe, quarantine by yourself and just take it easy.” In another message on Instagram he added: “Stay safe my ppl.”

Among other Jamaican sports stars said to have been at the party in capital Kingston – thrown by girlfriend Kasi Bennett – were West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle and Bayer Leverkusen striker Leon Bailey.

Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Bolt had earlier hailed it as the “best birthday ever”, posting a photo on Instagram of himself with three-monthold daughter Olympia.

Sterling, 25, who is best of pals with the athlete, had flown to the island after his costly miss in the Champions League semi-final against Lyon a week earlier, which led to Manchester City leaving the competition.

His representatives were unavailable for comment last night. The Caribbean island has had a total of 1,413 cases of coronavirus and 16 deaths. It was cleared six weeks ago by the UK as a safe travel destination.

But Jamaican prime minister Andrew Holness recently warned of a surge in cases and urged people to “exercise greater vigilance” to prevent it spreading.

Visitors to the island are screened on arrival and must remain at their hotel until they get their results.

Business travellers are allowed to leave to attend meetings.

Jamaican residents returning home are subject to a 14-day quarantine order and allowed out once a day to buy food or medical supplies.
