One Kell of a new display case
THE iconic Book of Kells has been given a new home as the Trinity College Treasury gets a major revamp.
The national treasure – which is considered one of the most significant relics of Irish history – will go on display in all its glory in the new state-of-the-art display case.
World leading Italian engineers Goppion, who designed cases for the Mona Lisa, the Crown Jewels, and the Dead Sea Scrolls, exclusively created the new box which will offer people the chance to view the magnificence of the artefact in all its glory.
And the new case will allow for every single page to be displayed, on a rotating basis.
This will include some of its most ornate pages which have not been on public display for many decades.
Minister for Arts and Culture Catherine Martin said of the new display: “The conservation and preservation of our heritage for generations to come is of national importance.
“It ensures that this global icon will continue to be admired and studied by millions currently and into
the future.”
