Body identified 34 years after death

-

THE body of an Irish pensioner has been identified in the UK – almost 34 years after he went missing.

An inquest in England declared the body that washed up in Cumbria in October 1986 was that of 70-year-old Patrick Healy.

He had last been seen at his home in Cabra, North Dublin, the previous month.

The married father of three and grandfather of eight had drowned at sea.

His granddaughter Alison represented the family at the inquest in Cumbria which was held by conference call yesterday.

Two of Mr Healy’s children are still alive including his daughter Mary, whose DNA helped solve the 34-year mystery.
