PLUMPTON STAY ONE JUMP AHEAD

- BY CHRIS GOULDING

PLUMPTON are upbeat about the return of racing on Sunday for the first time since March.

Chief executive Daniel Thompson said the independent jumps track was not going to follow Chester’s announcement that it may be mothballed.

“We wouldn’t be at that stage,” said Thompson.

“Chester are coming to the end of their season and they don’t race again until

April and May. We’re different as we now need to do our winter racing.

“They said if there are no crowds next year, they might as well mothball the business. But we are surviving for now.”

■ DANNY SHEEHY has become the third Irish jockey this week to test positive for Covid-19.

Sheehy’s brother Mikey and Shane Crosse had already returned positive tests and are self-isolating.
