BAM HAILS LEEDS’ BIG BANG MOMENT

PATRICK BAMFORD claims Leeds have proved they can compete in the Premier League after running Liverpool close at Anfield on the opening day.

Despite losing a thriller of a match 4-3, scorer Bamford (right) said: “We showed a lot of character to keep coming back. We showed we can compete with the best of the best.

“We’re disappointed we didn’t come away with anything but we learnt a few lessons and saw a few positive signs.

“I should have scored before I did, but it’s always nice for a striker to get off the mark straight away.”
