Weather will be extreme in the future

IRELAND is a facing a future of hotter temperatur­es and more extreme weather, a climate report has claimed.

Forecastin­g patterns between 2041 and 2060, experts at the Irish Centre for High- End Computing said temperatur­es could rise by between 1 C and 1.6C.

Snow fall could also decrease by 50%.

An ICHEC spokesman said: “Ireland’s climate is changing, our models indicate this is resulting in higher temperatur­es, changing precipitat­ion patterns and increases in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events.

“These changes are expected to continue and intensify into the future.”
