Irish singer on hopes of festive return

NIALL Horan said he’s hopeful he’ll make it home for Christmas - admitting his heartache of missing his loved ones.

The singer joined Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show l ast night on a live stream from rehearsals at London’s Royal Albert Hall where he will perform an online gig tonight.

And opening up about his yearning for Ireland, Niall revealed he hasn’t been home to Mullingar since last Christmas and told how he i s missing hi s granny, who re cently turned 90.

He s ai d: “For obvious reasons, it would be weird to get home. I usually get h o me f i v e o r s i x times a year at least but thi s year has been a weird one.

“There’s going to be a lot of people that won’t make it home for Christmas which is so sad really, especially if you are Irish. There’s something about going home for Christmas, it’s nearly a sin if you don’t go home.

“Hopeful l y, I can get home f or Christmas, it will be an awful shame if not.”

However, continuing to support Irish companies from his home in the UK, Niall said: “There’s a keg of Guinness in my dressing room right now, so we are definitely buying Irish here.”

The ex- One Direction star went on to say he thinks it will be a while before he is gigging in front of large crowds again. He a d d e d : “A s B r u c e [ Springstee­n] said to you, I can’t see it happening for a l ong t i me, i t ’s a l ong way away.
