Check if fatal radon gas is in your home
HOUSEHOLDERS have been asked to check for deadly gas radon by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The substance i s the second biggest cause of lung cancer after smoking in Ireland , with an estimated 300 cases each year linked to exposure.
Radon gas can seep into your home through small cracks and gaps i n the f oundations. It has no colour, taste or smell.
S t e p h a n i e L o n g , manager of t h e EPA’S Radon programme, said: “Exposure to high levels of ra don c an c ause l ung cancer and many families are unknowingly l iv i ng with this pollutant.”
