16- yr- old boy quizzed over ‘ hit-&- run’ of tragic Thiago

A TEENAGE boy has been arrested over the callous h i t - a n d - r u n d e a t h o f Brazilian Deliveroo rider Thiago Cortes.

It i s understood t he 16- year- old is being held on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

Mr Cortes, 28, was left for dead on North Wall Quay in Dublin city centre after being mown down by a car that sped away from the scene on August 31.

Gardai later seized an uninsured and untaxed Ford Focus in the north inner city they believe was used in the incident.

A source told the Irish Mirror that “four people were understood to have f led the scene” following the incident.

A Garda sp okesman s a i d : “To d a y g a r d a i arrested a male ( aged in his teens) in relation to a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the North Wall Quay area of Dublin City on August 31.

“He is currently detained i n S t ore S t re e t Gard a station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.”

I n v e s t i g a t i o n s ongoing, officers said.

Mr Cortes had started hi s j ob as a Delivero o worker just weeks before he was killed.

His devastated fiancee Theresa Dontas st ayed with him in intensive care at the Mater Hospital until he died on September 2.
