Teen ‘ petrol- bombed house after demanding PS4’

A BOY allegedly petrol- bombed the home of a woman hours after demanding a Play Station 4 from her, a court has heard.

The 16- year- old from Co Clare is f acing t hree separat e charges connected to the alleged attack on a home in a housing estate in a Clare town on April 4.

At the Children’s Court in Ennis, the teen – now aged 17 – sat in the dock of the court f lanked by his p a r e n t s t o h e a r S g t Ai d e n Lonergan of Ennis Garda station claim the accused “had a homemade petrol bomb and threw it towards the house”. Sgt Lonergan st at ed i t wi l l b e al l eged t h e accused, who cannot be named, threw the petrol bomb “at the rear of the house causing the bomb to explode”.

He added: “No one received injur y from the incident. There was only smoke damage to a kitchen window of the house.” Judge Durcan stated the case will be heard in the district court.

He a dj our n e d t h e c a s e t o December 9 when the accused will enter his plea.

Ju dge Durcan ordered t hat disclosure of all Garda documents in the case be given to the defence.
