Slav: We’re in a gunfight but we have the ammunition to survive in Prem

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

SLAVEN BILIC has warned his West Brom players to steel themselves for a shoot- out.

The Baggies boss might f ind himself in the Last Chance Saloon if things do not improve rapidly.

It’s hardly been a magnificent seven start for Bilic’s boys – no wins and just three points from their opening seven Premier League matches.

But Bilic was on the front foot as he made an impassioned plea to his men to send Tottenham packing tomorrow.

The 2- 0 defeat at Fulham and a row over the sale of defender Ahmed Hegazi ( above) over his h e a d h a v e s t r a i n e d B i l i c’s relationship with the Hawthorns hierarchy.

But h e wi l l n o t b e g o i n g anywhere without a fight, as he said: “We’re in a gunfight that we’ll hopefully get out of.

“We have enough ammunition for what is required. Do we have enough ammunition to win the

Premier League? No. But then again neither do 80 per cent of the divi si on . Do we have enough ammunition t o f i ght f or t h e Champions League? No.

“But do we have enough to fight for a place mid- table? Yes.”

Bilic is ready to fight his corner on all fronts, adding: “The message to the players is, ‘ Don’t shut your windows and doors because you are ashamed. Puff your chests out. Don’t feel sorry for yourselves’.

“Our o b j e c t i v e was n e v e r t o h a v e a comfortable season. Our only objective is to stay up “The expectations are always high. I thought we were going to do better as a team and as individuals but I also knew there was a genuine chance that this is us.

“This i s a season where we haven’t invested heavily, so our aim is to stay up. It means live it, don’t play games, live them.

“Give everything. It’s hard, it’s damn hard. But can we do it? Yes. But we have to do it together.”
