Ole’s scream of Reds’ crop

-

MANCHESTER UNITED’S infuriating inconsistency is enough to make you scream.

And screaming is exactly what should have been happening when they conceded that embarrassing goal in Turkey against Basaksehir.

If my Under- 15 team had left Demba Ba on his own by the halfway line, as United did in Istanbul, I would have being going mad.

For a club with aspirations of winning the Champions League to concede in such a juvenile manner is an absolute joke – and it has left manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under pressure again.

In a near- empty stadium, Solskjaer ( below) should have bee been bellowing from th the touchline for his defenders to cover Ba. As captain, Harry Maguire should have been organising who goes up for corners and who stays back.

And goalkeeper Dean Henderson should have been screaming blue murder for help.

United have gone from that six- goal humiliation by

Tottenham to great performances against Paris

Saint- Germain and Red Bull Leipzig.

Now they have come full circle again with a dreary home defeat by Arsenal and that joke of a goal in Turkey.

I have never advocated Solskjaer getting the sack, and I am not going to start now.

But when performances are so inconsistent, there is little prospect of United winning their first trophy in four years – and that gives the board at Old Trafford a decision to make.

Mauricio Pochettino’s appearance on TV this week will only fuel speculation that a change is coming.
