NUNO: WE’RE STILL LONG WAY FROM BEING GREAT

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO has told his Wolves side they’re not quite as great as people seem to think they are.

Wanderers are once again riding high in the Premier League and are currently on the back of a four- match unbeaten run.

But Nuno is desperate that no one gets carried away with the situation – because he knows it’s been a funny old year.

The manager said: “The team is not in great form. There’s a lot of things that need to improve.

“We’ve been able to produce good performances, but to say that we’re great is incorrect. That’s just the reality.”

Nuno ( hugging Wolves captain Conor Coady, above) believes the game is currently in a state of shake- up coping with the effects of the Covid- 19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

He said: “There are some crazy results. We can’t begin to risk thinking we are already there – because we’re not.

“It isn’t even in our minds to think we are OK. We’re not. There’s a lot of things that we need to improve.”

Wolves’ unbeaten run stretches back to them getting a 4- 0 drubbing at West Ham at the end of September.

Nuno already believes it was a pivotal moment and added: “West Ham made us realise just how difficult it is when you are not 100 per cent. That game was a big moment for us.

“Words don’t solve things. We went out onto the training pitch. It is not about being angry or shouting or hitting things. It’s more a case of, ‘ What can I do to make you get better?’.

“We will need to be at 100 per cent because Leicester have such an attacking dynamic.

“They are a fantastic team and Brendan Rodgers is an amazing manager. They are doing really well and we can expect a really tough game.”
