O’NEILL: YEAR WE GO TO TOP

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

MICHAEL O’NEILL celebrates 12 months in charge at Stoke saying it has felt like 12 years at times.

O’neill ( above, left) managed to keep the Potters in the Championship last season and says he’s only looking upwards now.

Ahead of today’s trip to Reading, he said: “We’re pleased where we are after setting about building a team to go in the other direction.

“I think we have a happier club overall and it’s up to us to push on and hopefully go into a stable period.”

Veljko Paunovic is demanding a response from his Reading side who have been brought back down to earth by back- to- back defeats.

The Serbian boss ( above, right) said: “We need to get back on a winning road. That is how we test ourselves.

“When you lose a game, you want to play immediately so you can fix it. So we have to control the anxiety we have, recycle it and turn it into positive energy and a winning mentality.

“We have to calm down a little bit – next game, next opportunity.”
