Star reveals how pedals power his bond with Bono
THE Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has told how he has been biking buddies with U2 frontman Bono for more than two decades.
The pair met through the actor’s former girlfriend, supermodel- turnedphotographer Helena Christensen.
She has been friends with U2 and has snapped the band several times since the 1990s.
Norman told the Irish Mirror : “We visited Ireland a l ot when we were together and I know Helena is still a very regular visitor to Dublin.
“Bono and I biked in Wicklow a few times, which was just amazing.
“We’ve gone skiing together in the Alps as well.”
The actor played Irish vigilante Murphy Mcmanus i n the cult series Boondock Scouts.
He added: “Even after all the years I ’ve been working on The Walking Dead, the character of Murphy Mcmanus i s one that people keep coming up to me to talk about, which I’m always happy to do.” Norman, 51, is a model, actor, painter, sculptor, photographer and now novelist.

On a break from filming The Walking Dead in Georgia, he spoke of the passion for photography he developed through his ex- girlfriend Helena.
Although they split after five years together, they remain close friends and are also co- parents to their 18- year- old
son Mingus. Norman said: “I was just talking to her last night actually.
“Helena is a much better photographer than me.
“She’s been doing it a lot longer and she does it very dif ferently. She gets her hands dirty which I love.
“I used to do it in junior high school and I’d usually just got to a cemetery and waste a roll of film, but I learned a lot from her and she’s really good.”
The actor has been a passionate animal lover since he was a child and today i s an advocate for their rights and against animal testing.
His girlfriend is the German actress Diane Kruger who i s allergic to his beloved cat, who was named Eye In The Dark by his son.
Norman added: “She’s allergic, but we fight through it. The cat no longer sleeps on the bed with us, except when Diane is not here. I sneak the cat in.
“A lot of my friends are also allergic to cats, but I ’m like, ‘ Tough. You just have to deal with it. I can’t get rid of the cat’.”
