£ 30M FOX CUB WESLEY IS ‘ COLOSSAL’
BRENDAN RODGERS branded Leicester defender Wesley Fofana “colossal” after his man- of- thematch display kept Wolves at bay.
New £ 30million defender Fofana ( left) impressed once again with a superb display to shut out Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
And Foxes boss Rodgers believes the 19- year- old, signed from SaintEtienne, has the world at his feet.
Rodgers said: “He is absolutely colossal for a young guy. He is strong, aggressive and has that class on the ball.
“Wes is a real big talent – he is playing like a 29- year- old. I’m sure in time he will prove a bargain.”
Victory took Leicester top of the Premier League and Rodgers was delighted, adding: “Everything about the game was very, very good and we should have had more than one goal – but you won’t always have it all your own way.
“The more we work together the
more we are able to deal with that pressure. Our football was outstanding against a very good side.”
Kasper Schmeichel ( above) produced a late match- winning leap to ensure Wolves left the King Power empty- handed.
Foxes No. 1 Schmeichel’s stunning one- handed save from Ruben Neves was crucial – and the Dane said: “It is what you work on as a keeper and what I am there for.
“The whole team defended brilliantly all game. They had only one or two chances.”
Rodgers said: “Kasper’s save was incredible, it looked like it was going right into the top scorer.
“To pull anything off you need a top goalkeeper and thankfully we have that here.
“It’s a good feeling. Everything that the players have had to deal with over this opening period of the season, to win nine games out of 11 in all competitions, with everything that’s gone against us in terms of injuries, it’s been a huge effort.
“I thought we should have been more than one up at half- time – and in the second half you’ve got to show your resilience.
“Again, we were probably more of a threat on the counter- attack.
“But I thought how the players managed the game was just cohesively very, very good with very good concentration and, like I say, by the end we feel we should have won by more.”
