IORFA BACKS THE OWLS TO KEEP FLYING

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

DOMINIC IORFA is looking up now Sheffield Wednesday are off the bottom of the table.

Wednesday have reeled in the teams above them after collecting 10 points in one week, this draw with Millwall coming after beating Bournemouth and having a

12- point penalty for breaching financial rules halved on appeal.

“Yeah, getting six points back is a relief,” said the Owls defender ( above). “It’s good news because the whole season we’ve been playing catch- up with the bottom clubs. That we’re not playing catch- up anymore and we’re in the mix is good news.

“I think we’re second bottom and the next aim is to catch third bottom and overtake them.”

Goals remain Wednesday’s biggest issue, with just six from 11 league games. They failed to convert any of their seven efforts on target and were frustrated by a combination of poor finishing and outstanding goalkeeping from Millwall’s Bartosz Bialkowski.

“We haven’t scored enough,” admitted Iorfa. “But the main thing for us is we’re creating chances. With the players we have, if we keep creating chances, we know we’re going to take them.”

Millwall boss Gary Rowett was grateful to Bialkowski for earning the Lions a point he felt they did not deserve. Bialkowski shared the Championship’s golden glove last season with Brentford’s David Raya and his tally of 11 clean sheets on the road in 2020 is the most in the top four leagues.

“I thought he was excellent,” said Rowett. “Bart has been very good since we came in.”
