ADAM IS TWO STRONG FOR UNLUCKY R’S

- BY NEIL GOULDING

BEN BRERETON admits Blackburn are delighted by leading scorer Adam Armstrong this season.

Ruthless hitman Armstrong ( above, right) bagged a brace as Rovers showed their battling qualities to beat the R’s.

And forward Brereton was also on target as Tony Mowbray’s injury and sickness- ravaged side secured their first home league win for close to two months. “Adam’s been a great player for us this season,” said Brereton.

“We all know what he does – and that’s scoring goals. He’s scored 12 this season, which has been great. But we showed a real team spirit and I’m always happy to get a goal.”

Brereton netted with a sweet left- foot volley before Lyndon Dykes levelled from the penalty spot.

But Rovers deserved to end their run of three league matches without a win thanks to Armstrong’s double.

QPR manager Mark Warburton claimed if they had not hit the post at 1- 1 the outcome could have been very different. He said:

“We were in a position to get something out of it, but we let ourselves down.

“At 1- 1 we were the team that was going to win it even though we rode our luck. But you’ve got to kick- on and get your rewards – and we didn’t do that.”
