LYLE MAKES LIFE SWEET FOR FOREST

- BY JANINE SELF

LYLE TAYLOR is still in the pink – even if his hair and boots no longer match.

The Nottingham Forest striker ( scoring the first of a double, above) spent October with his locks and footwear dyed pink, a yearly ritual to raise awareness for cancer research.

Now he is focussed on a different sort of awareness by showing that a 30- year- old who has trod the boards from Eastbourne to AFC Wimbledon via Falkirk can still dream big.

Forest’s free agent summer signing from Charlton, who scored both goals to beat Wycombe, said: “I always believed in myself and I always believed that, given the chance, I am able.

“Did I think I would be playing for Forest at the age of 30? Not really. I would love to score goals in the Premier League. When I was playing League One and Two you never think you are going to get there and you never know if you have missed your chance.

“I am honoured to be given the opportunity here, but I think there is more. We can go again and I want to play at the highest level.”

Taylor’s goals were vital but he is not getting carried away.

He added: “I’m not going to say we have turned the corner and will win the next 10 games.”

Forest’s dismal start to the season, which cost manager Sabri Lamouchi his job, has improved under Chris Hughton after backto- back home wins.

But Wycombe – minus boss Gareth Ainsworth who is recovering from back surgery – made it difficult. His assistant Richard Dobson said: “There were positives, despite the result.”
