SKY News stalwart Adam Boulton shared a tweet branding four of his colleagues “morons” for breaching Covid rules at Kay Burley’s 60th.

Political editor Beth Rigby, correspond­ent Inzamam Rashid and host Sam Washington have been taken off air pending an internal probe following presenter Burley ’s party in Tier 2 London on Saturday.

Boulton, 61, retweeted the message from a viewer, which read: “The morons spent all summer preaching to us and now look at them!”

Burley has said she will not front Sky News in the coming weeks due to a pre- planned h o l i d ay, a f t e r a d mi tt i n g breaking safety rules.

The TV host, who turns 60 on December 17, described the breach as “an error of judgment”.

Amid speculatio­n over whether she would return to work before next year, she shared a video from a safari trip and wrote: “Lovely people, whatever else you read be safe in the knowledge I was always heading to my beloved Africa on Friday to sit with lions. They kill for food not sport.”

Burley had explained in a tweet. She wrote: “I want to apologise for an error of j udgment. On Saturday night I was enjoying my 60th b i r t h d a y a t a C o v i d compliant restaurant.

“I am embarrasse­d to say later in the evening I inadverten­tly broke the rules. I had been waiting for a taxi to get home. Desperate for the loo I popped in another restaurant to spend a penny. I can only apologise.”

A Sky News spokesman said: “We were disappoint­ed that a small number of staff may have engaged in activity that breached the guidelines.

“Although this took place at a social event i n personal time, we expect all our people

to follow the rules.”
