FOXES’ EUROPEAN FUTURE IS BRIGHTER THAN EVER

- BY JAMES NURSEY

Group G, Kick- off 8pm

MARC ALBRIGHTON is targeting another entry into “Leicester folklore” with fresh European success.

Title- winner Albrighton, 31, was part of the Foxes’ side that reached the Champions League quarter- finals in 2017.

He scored City’s firstever goal g in the competition at Clu Club Brugge and was on target again against Sevilla as Leicester reached the last eight.

Now the winger insists Brendan Rodgers’ squad are taking the Europa League very seriously as they aim to wrap up top spot tonight in Group G at home to AEK Athens.

Albrighton ( left) said: “I think the Europa League is going to be special this year. We are looking to go as far as we can.

“That will create special moments during games. We, as a group of players, are just as determined as we would be in the Champions League with a full stadium.

“We have a platform to create something special and put ourselves further in Leicester folklore. We have spoken about what a good opportunity it is for us. We have seen English clubs do well in it in previous years.

“We are looking to do the same. We have a big squad here and, if we were just fighting on one front, it would decrease game time and leave players unhappy.”

And Rodgers admits lifting a trophy in Europe would be a dream. He said: “Over your career, of course, everyone would wish to be able to do that.

“But it is not at the forefront of my mind in terms of worrying about myself and trophies.”
