GRAINNE Seoige has moved home to Ireland from South Africa with her hubby to be closer to her loved ones after a death in the family.

The Galway star went abroad with her husband Leon Jordaan a number of years ago, where they set up and ran her diamond jewellery business.

Opening up about her decision almost a year to the day the couple f lew home to get married in Co Kildare in 2019, Grainne said: “It was very easy and it is a little bit sad. Leon lost his dad this time last year and it has been a really strange year this year, as we all know, and we didn’t get to spend as much time with our families as much as we would have liked.

“Leon really put it to me that we only have a certain time with our families and when they are not here anymore they are not here anymore, so make the most of the time we have together.

“So we decided to come home and i solate 10 miles f rom their house, instead of the other side of the world. Because obviously we can’t really see each other now either but at least I know I am in the same country and when the vaccines come around, I will be straight out to Spiddal for a cuppa.”

The 47- year- old added that despite only getting set to celebrate her first wedding anniversar y l ater on thi s month, it has sometimes felt like it’s been a decade since the big day, given the events of 2020. She told The Six

O’clock Show : “I cannot believe that a year has passed.

“This time last year we were putting our finishing touches to everything and putting together table plans.

“This year has been a year and decade all in one, a shapeless year that feels like it has gone on for 100 years.

“It already feels like we are on our fifth anniversary, rather than our first.”

Grainne also told how returning to the Irish winter has been a shock to the system, adding: “It is hard when you have done five years in Pretoria which has a stunning climate.”
