Star ‘ no plans’ to leave TV role

thing about it was epic.”

While she is staying on for next year’s series, Bradley Walsh, who has played Graham since 2017, and Tosin Cole, who played Ryan for the same time, have both announced they ’ l l be l eaving after the January 1 episode.

Revolution of the Daleks – the title of the episode - will be the end of the road for “the fam” – the trio which included Mandip Gill’s Yaz, who went on adventures with Jodie’s Doctor.

Jodie admitted she shed buckets of tears after they’d filmed their last scenes.

S h e s a i d : “J u s t p u r e l y knowing it was the last scenes between myself and those actors – both of them had to carry me to my trailer.

“I ’v e not cri ed l i ke t hat for such a long time. I felt incredibly bereaved – all of our journey has been together and we clicked like a family.”

Hopefully, with the Daleks and old faces such as John Barrowman’s Captain Jack and Chris Noth’s Jack Robertson returning – the episode will be a good send- off.

Viewers last saw the Thirteenth Doctor at the end of series 12, when her fate was left hanging in the balance as she was l ocked away by the Judoon i n a highsecurity ali en pri son with no hope of escape. Her companions are on Earth trying to carry on their lives without her and have to fight against the Daleks.

The trailer for the episode doesn’t show whether the Doctor gets out of prison and helps against the Daleks and Jodie was giving nothing away – instead focusing on the Doctor’s foe she loves the most.

The Master – who became Missy, played by Michelle Gomez, to tangle with Capaldi’s Doctor – reverted to male form to battle Jodie’s Doctor and was played by Sacha Dhawan.

Jodie said of the Master : “I love his trickery, his revenge and how he i s so quick to switch on you. I found all of that incredible.

“Playing The Doctor with all of these classic villains and monsters is amazing but The Master and I have our own relationship and our own experience.”

Another experience Jodie is getting used to is being recognised all over the world – and it reminds the mum of one how deep her attachment to the part has become.

She said: “In every walk of life there’s Whovians. We have this forever connection because of what the show means to them, to me and everyone on the show.”

Doctor Who, BBC1 January 1, 6.45pm.
