DYCHE: THIS IS NO FREE HIT FOR US

- BY DAVID ANDERSON @Mirroranderson

SEAN DYCHE has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to expect plenty more flak before the season is out.

Manchester United need just a point at Burnley tonight to go top of the Premier League, only a month after Solskjaer ( with Dyche, above) was being questioned following United’s Champions League exit.

“That’s part and parcel of the demands of the top clubs,” said Clarets boss Dyche, when discussing how Solskjaer must cope with the intense scrutiny of the United job.

“It was only a short time ago that people were scratching their heads about what’s next for Manchester United, and now people are raving about them.

“That’s the complexities of managing a club like Man United.

“Bizarrely, if you remember a number of weeks ago there were questions – would they be doing this, that or the other?

“But they had two games in hand, they won the two games in hand and now everyone is going ‘ hurrah, look at Manchester United!’.

“Question marks start very quickly. There aren’t any at the moment because they are doing what most people would expect a Man United side to do and that’s win games.”

United have taken 26 points from their last 30 to climb the table and Dyche feels they have added consistency to their quality.

“I don’t think anyone has doubted their ability for a long time – it’s about getting consistency into their team and winning games,” he said.

“That’s what all managers want, whatever level you’re at, and they are showing signs of that over the last run of games.”

Burnley have won just two of their last 29 meetings with United, but Dyche refuses to view the game as a free hit.

“No, we’ve never thought about it like that,” he said. “I understand the train of thought, of course. Expectation is high on them, low on us, I get all that.

“We’re in a good place ourselves, we’re on a good run of form and we want to keep performing ourselves, that’s a key thing.

“It’s a tough ask, we know that, especially now because they are on a good run.

“But we are looking forward to it. I would never look at games like this as a free hit, although the outside world may do.”
