Trump is box office but we can now end the obsession
NOW that Trump’s gone, can we finally STFU about him? It’s Biden’s time to shine.
I’m sick of hearing about the “worst President ever” from those who put way too much energy into hating a man they never stop talking about.
The supposed liberals of US media live in their own elite bubble and have made an industry of talking down to the other half of the country who voted for him.
The rich and famous of press, politics, the arts and academia have spent the past four years banging on about him – much to their own personal gain.
They’re all suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome – triggered by how he looks, how he lives and every small thing he does. They’ve been acting like an obsessed ex since 2016.
Unlike them, I don’t find Donald Trump fascinating. As a columnist, I haven’t written about him at all over the course of his presidency.
To me, he’s a wealthy, brash, macho New York businessman who only got into power because the Democrats left workingclass Americans behind.
CRAZY
He’s not a supervillain – and neither is he a hero or martyr. But he certainly shook up US politics more than any other President in its history.
It sent the old order crazy. They contradict their own view to go against his.
They become what they criticise him for. They’ve frequently veered into hypocrisy, hysteria and hyperbole.
His wife Melania, a Slovenian immigrant who speaks seven languages, was treated contemptuously as First Lady by those who claim to prize feminism and multiculturalism.
What they won’t say is Trump is box office. Trump means sales, readers, viewers, listeners, money.
His ascension to the presidency was the greatest gift to media. What will they do without him?
